Responsibilities Be responsible for the end-to-end project management and delivery of the Teesdale landfill remediation project. Project, including planning, risk and budget management, procurement, contractor engagement and management, construction management, and project close-out. Key outcomes must ensure compliance with regulatory approvals, environmental standards and councils strategic objectives. Establish a strategic risk and remediation plan for Councils legacy tip sites and roadside stockpiles. Propose and undertake a process to identify areas of contamination that currently may have not been identified across the Shire. Demonstrate due process has been undertaken to investigate these areas, and where required prepare a plan to take appropriate action. Implement technical input and liaising with statutory authorities, stakeholders, community, land managers, staff, Council, Executive and Audit and Risk Committee in relation to land contamination projects, including preparing and presenting audience specific materials and reports. Empower staff through development of education materials, training and mentoring and support in the management of waste soils. Qualifications Demonstrated experience in the application of the requirements of the Environment Protection Act (2017) (EP Act) and other key relevant legislation to investigate and act to manage risks to human health and the environment associated with contaminated land. Demonstrated experience in administration of complex environmental projects, including scoping, risk management, scheduling, budget control, tendering and procurement, contract management ideally in landfill and/or contaminated site remediation. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills to engage, influence and communicate effectively with a diverse range of audiences to achieve objectives. Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide, influence and mentor staff, manage competing priorities and provide clear, concise reporting to a range of audiences. Strong understanding and application of OHS legislation to ensure safe work practices. Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement driving behaviour change towards compliance in land contamination and soil management. Have a strong work ethic with the ability to work autonomously, be pragmatic and solutions-driven with a high degree of self-motivation, enthusiasm and common sense.
