Work with growers to improve water quality and protect the Great Barrier Reef Based in Bargara, Queensland Full-time | Fixed Term contract to July 2028 The Burnett Mary Regional Group (BMRG) is seeking a passionate and proactive Reefwise Facilitator to support the delivery of sustainable farming solutions across the Burnett and Mary catchments with the goal of improving water quality, enhancing soil health, and reducing pollutant loads to the Great Barrier Reef. This is a unique opportunity to work directly with landholders, growers, and Traditional Owners to support practice change, knowledge-sharing, and the adoption of improved land management techniques under the Reefwise Farming Program. About the Role As the Reefwise Facilitator, you will be on the front lines of positive environmental change helping producers in sugar cane and horticulture transition toward more sustainable systems through practical support, regional collaboration, and trusted relationship-building. This is a field-based role with a strong coordination and engagement focus. Youll work closely with the Reefwise Project Manager and BMRGs Land Practice Change team to deliver meaningful outcomes for landholders, communities and the environment. Youll also serve as BMRGs nominated extension contact with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) and contribute to knowledge-sharing across Queenslands broader Reef Trust investment network. Key Responsibilities Engage directly with landholders to support the adoption of improved land management practices Coordinate site visits, workshops, events, and oneonone grower support Maintain accurate records of engagement, landholder progress, and practice change adoption Use tools such as Paddock to Reef (P2R) Projector and CRM systems to track and report environmental outcomes Contribute to Reef Trust reporting, learning activities and cross-regional collaboration Build trusted relationships with growers, Traditional Owners, delivery partners and program stakeholders Promote inclusive participation and remove barriers to program access. About You Youre a strong communicator, confident in working with landholders and rural communities. You have experience in extension, fieldbased engagement, or agricultural services and are motivated by helping people shift toward more sustainable and profitable farming practices. Were looking for someone with: A diploma or degree in environmental science, agronomy, sustainable agriculture, or a related field 3 + years practical experience in landholder engagement or extension. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust quickly Experience in community engagement, extension services, agronomy, or natural resource management Understanding of cane or horticulture systems, irrigation efficiency, and land condition (preferred) Awareness of, or a keen interest in, using precision irrigation tools, infield sensor technologies, and spatial data systems (e.g. GIS) to support improved land management at the farm and catchment scale The ability to coordinate events, field activities and project logistics Familiarity with data systems such as CRM platforms or MERI frameworks A current manual drivers licence and willingness to travel for fieldwork How to Apply Please submit your CV and cover letter explaining your interest in the role and how your experience and attributes align with the "About You" section.
