Apprentice Waste Plant Operator/Labourer (Three Year Duration) Apply at Careers at Council. About the role The Apprentice Waste Plant Operator/Labourer is a full-time, fixed-term position within the Waste Services Division, based at the Surf Beach Waste Management Facility. The successful applicant will also travel to Wollongong to attend block release training. Description This is an excellent opportunity to launch your career in Waste Services. You will receive onjob training, gain valuable skills and experience, and work towards a CertificateIII in Civil Construction (Plant Operations). As part of the role, you will develop handson experience in plant operations while completing the Certificate. You''ll assist with landfill maintenance, operate machinery and tools, support recycling and resource recovery, and provide customer service at Councils waste facilities. The starting salary for this position is $1,391.57 plus 12% superannuation and is dependent on the age of the employee on commencement. About You You have a minimum Year10 certificate or equivalent and a genuine interest in landfill operations. Youre ready to take on the challenges of an apprenticeship that blends handson experience with formal training. You also bring Willingness and ability to perform physical labouring tasks during landfill operational activities. Commitment to completing all components of the apprenticeship, including TAFE. Basic literacy, numeracy, and computer skills. A teamfocused attitude with good interpersonal and customer service skills. Initiative and a willingness to learn and grow within a supportive team environment.
