Senior Projects Officer - Kimberley Nature Projects Environs Kimberley (EK) is the peak environmental NGO in the Kimberley. We are dedicated to preserving the health of the land and waters of the region through community campaigns, advocacy, and onground cultural and natural resource management projects. As a communitybased regional organisation, we collaborate with other environmental groups, First Nations groups, and communities at local, state, national, and international levels to develop and lead wellcoordinated, effective campaigns. The Role This is a fulltime, fixedterm position within the Sandy Deserts Fire Biodiversity Project (12 months, possibility of extension). The Senior Project Officer will work closely with Traditional Owner ranger groups across the Kimberley and Great Sandy Desert to strengthen fire management planning, ecological monitoring, and data management. You will combine field coordination, GIS and data analysis, and community engagement to deliver highquality, onground conservation outcomes. Responsibilities Project Coordination: Planning, implementing, and monitoring the assigned project to ensure effective delivery. Technical Delivery: Applying technical expertise in GIS, ecological monitoring, fire management planning, and large animal sensor camera surveys. Field Operations: Leading safe and efficient fieldwork, including logistics, equipment management, and compliance with WHS and ICIP protocols. Stakeholder Relationships: Maintaining collaborative partnerships with Traditional Owners, ranger groups, research institutions, and community partners. Workshops & Communication: Supporting workshops, training, reports, community media, and presentations. Essential Criteria Experience working collaboratively with Indigenous ranger groups or remote community programmes. Proven ability to work with teams with empathy and accountability, fostering a positive and inclusive culture. Demonstrated ability to coordinate multistakeholder projects, including logistics and reporting. Effective communication and facilitation skills across technical and community audiences. High level of initiative, organisation, and problemsolving ability. Desirable Criteria Qualifications or experience in environmental science, natural resource management, conservation, or related fields. Experience in remote or regional Australia, particularly the Kimberley or northern Australia. Knowledge of Kimberley ecosystems, fire management, and Indigenous land management practices. Experience with camera trap surveys, remote sensing, or ecological databases. Benefits 5 weeks annual leave and 17.5% leave loading. Flexible work arrangements available.
