Cook and Farm hand The primary role is a mixed one which will involve preparing and cooking meals for a team of farm staff throughout wheat planting and cotton harvest. The secondary role would be suitable for a partner or friend and will be mostly yard and farm hand work. We are currently seeking a couple keen to work as a farm cook throughout planting and cotton harvest, alongside a partner/friend to work as a farm hand in a mixed role. 3-6 months work at least with work available on the farm for a partner if desired. Start date flexible but approx 6th April 2024. We are also happy to take a suitable applicant for the cook role alone. Role Description (Cook) Main duties will include: Preparing and cooking evening meals for farm crew Preparation of food and sandwiches for packed lunches Stock control of all kitchen food inventory and cold storage Maintaining the kitchen to a high standard of safety and hygiene according to management Additional duties: Maintaining a clean communal area/kitchen/dining area Driving to town for occasionally groceries and other ad hoc duties when required Requirements Must have experience cooking for large groups of people (e.g. at a roadhouse, cattle station, farm during a large harvest or seeding etc.) Must be efficient in running an organised kitchen, planning ahead with upcoming meals High level of hygiene and safety standards Willing to work weekends Full clean drivers licence Benefits Excellent day rate, far exceeding the award All food and meals included free of charge Onsite male & female farm accommodation with own room and en suite Suitable for citizens, residents & WHV holders Singles and couples encouraged to apply In addition some yard work or farm work/tractor driving for a second person.
