Country: Australia Last Date to Apply: 07/31/2025 Applications accepted until 1 August 2025 We are looking for a volunteer field assistant to assist with data collection for research on climate change and dispersal in purple-crowned fairy-wrens. Our study population is located in the Kimberley, Western Australia. Fieldwork will take place from mid October to mid or late November 2025. Monitor all fairy-wrens along a 15 km stretch of river. Re-sighting colourbanded birds. Targeted behavioural observations (e.g., time budgets). Mist netting. Basic lab work and data entry. Flexible and willing to work long days in hot and humid conditions with occasional snake encounters. Full colourvision, physically fit, comfortable living in a remote location. Good interpersonal skills, ability to work independently in the field. Accurate data collection and entry; ask for help when unsure. Previous experience in similar conditions and with colourband resighting, behavioural observations; experience with mist netting is a bonus. The cost of accommodation (mostly camping in tents), food, and local travel expenses will be covered. Domestic flight expenses may be negotiated.
