These include decisions such as where a person might live, their medical and dental treatment, health care, and other services. We also provide information and support to private and enduring guardians, service providers and the wider community.The NSW Public Guardian collaborates with various stakeholders to protect and promote the rights of vulnerable individuals. We coordinate with different divisions within the NSW Trustee and Guardian and engage with healthcare providers, legal professionals, community organisations, and families to make informed decisions.The NSW Public Guardian Has Four Main UnitsPractice and Strategy: Provides advocacy, policy, and stakeholder engagement.Service Delivery: Offers guardianship services across NSW.Establishment and Quality Assurance: Manages triaging and education for new guardianship and monitoring matters.Legal: Supports decision-making and handles legal matters.The organisation is adopting innovative practices, including new learning models, governance, technology, and training. It is also exploring Supported Decision Making in response to future law reforms.About The RoleThe Senior Guardian is responsible for delivering quality guardianship services to our customers. This role involves making decisions in line with policy and the Guardianship Act 1987 (NSW), maintaining accurate customer records, undertaking individual and systemic advocacy to achieve positive outcomes for our customers, preparing accurate reports and recommendations to senior officers.Make decisions in line with policies, within the Senior Guardian delegation level and authority from the Guardianship Division, to best serve the interests of our customers.Ensure the exchange of information with represented people, family, and key stakeholders is accurate and timely and at all times compliant with relevant legislations.Required to conduct visits to people represented by the Public Guardian in line with the Guardianship Standards.As a Senior Guardian You WillMake decisions about where a person lives, the services they receive such as personal care and therapyConsent to medical and dental treatment and health carePrepare guardianship related case reports for the Guardianship Division of the NSW Civil and Administrative TribunalWork with key stakeholders such as family members, health professionals and service providers to negotiate appropriate options and positive outcomes for the person.For more information about the position, view the Role Description.About YouOne of the most rewarding aspects about working for us is that at the core, our people are making a positive difference to the lives of vulnerable people.The ideal applicant will possess the following skills and attributes:Passionate individual who champions the rights of people with disabilityCommitted to providing insightful and timely customer service, often on matters which are complex, sensitive and time critical.Strong communicator able to work collaboratively with key stakeholders, peers, and customers to ensure optimum outcomes.Ability to build strong relationships and provide customers with support on making their life decisions.Have a keen interest in social outcomes, justice and advocating for people, and can demonstrate high levels of empathy and emotional intelligence.Have a good working understanding of relevant service systems such as the NDIS, aged care and mental healthSound like you?
