About The Role Were looking for a creative and motivated Programs & Activities Officer to join our team at the Brisbane Immigration Detention Centre. If you have a background in education, fitness, training, or cooking/culinary arts, this is your chance to share your skills in a meaningful way - supporting detainees to build confidence, learn, and grow. Youll deliver practical, skills-based sessions that support detainee wellbeing and engagement. From life skills to cooking programs, youll help design and facilitate activities that make a real difference. Key responsibilities include: Delivering and supporting group programs and life skills activities Facilitating education, training, or practical workshops (e.g. cooking) Contributing to inclusive, culturally sensitive program design Providing feedback and supporting program reviews and improvements Responding to emergency situations professionally and safely Maintaining program spaces, equipment and documentation Supporting detainees to build capacity and self-management Key Requirements: Youre approachable, energetic, and passionate about sharing your skills to help others. You enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds and have a calm, professional manner in dynamic environments.
