We are looking for a Senior Advisor Environment & Sustainability with solid experience on metropolitan road construction projects in Melbourne. The successful candidate will have MRPV (Major Road Projects Victoria) experience in tier 1 and tier 2 construction companies, in Victoria. The candidate will be able to work in metropolitan locations around Melbourne on a Monday to Friday roster, and ideally have: Bachelors degree in environmental science, sustainability, engineering, or a related field Professional certification in environmental management (e.g., CEnv, EP, ISAP) or similar is highly desirable 5+ years of experience in environmental and/or sustainability roles, with at least 2 years experience in construction or related industries In depth knowledge of state legislative requirements and all Australian Standards relating to relevant scope of works Knowledge of environmental legislation and statutes and ability to interpret any applicable statutes or legislation relevant to Project Strong understanding of sustainability principles, including cradle-to-cradle design, circular economy, and regenerative practices Proven experience in developing and implementing environmental and sustainability strategies. Excellent project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fastpaced, dynamic environment. Responsibilities Reporting to the Project Manager or Project Functional Lead, this position is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of project environmental and sustainability initiatives and provide guidance and support to workers in the implementation of Project Environment / Sustainability Management Plan/s, business management system and client requirements. Provide environmental and sustainability guidance during project planning, design, and execution. Ensure sustainability considerations are integrated into project delivery processes. Facilitate the Environment risk management process for the Project referencing statutory requirements, business requirements, current industry best practice and lessons learnt Develop and maintain / support compliance with the Project Environment / Sustainability Management Plan and sub-plans Manage consultants time, output and cost for specialist services Ensure Environment design issues are integrated into the Project construction risk assessment processes Engage with Project subcontractors to ensure understanding and compliance with Project and business requirements Facilitate the development and delivery of Project Environment and Sustainability content in Project inductions Identify minimum Environment and Sustainability training, competency, qualification and licensing requirements for workers on the Project. Ensure project is compliant to contractual requirements such as sustainability aspect tracking and initiatives. (i.e. IS rating, Green Star Rating etc.) Provide E&S Monthly Reports, where required to the project management team and client. Promote and implement sustainable practices across all operations and projects. Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement sustainable approaches in operations, circular economy practices, and overall reduction of waste, materials energy, water, and resources. Identify opportunities for reducing the environmental footprint and enhancing resource efficiency.
