The Senior Environmental Health Officer works within the Regulatory Services unit calling on sound experience and knowledge of environmental health matters to lead a small team to provide environmental health regulation services to Councils customers. This service unit is supported by a dedicated team of support personnel to achieve continuous improvement and highquality service to Councils customers. Key responsibilities include: Coordinate and deliver environmental health inspection programmes, including food premises, swimming pools, onsite sewage systems, public health matters, and other regulated facilities, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation. Respond to, investigate and resolve complaints related to environmental health, public safety, noise and pollution, providing accurate advice and remedial action to the community as required. Administer and enforce environmental and public health legislation, including reporting, compliance followup and, where necessary, initiation of legal action. Provide leadership, technical guidance and supervision to environmental health staff, including rostering, workload management and professional development. Develop, implement and review policies, procedures and special projects to support continuous improvement in environmental health and regulatory services. Represent Council on matters relating to environmental health and management, including the Development Assessment Panel, and maintain strong community engagement while promoting Councils reputation. Essential to this role is a degree, diploma or certificate in Environmental Health or equivalent, complemented by general practical knowledge of local government health and environmental regulation practices. A current NSW drivers licence is required for this role. A sound understanding of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, Local Government Act 1993, Public Health Act 2010, Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997, Swimming Pools Act 1992, and Food Act 2003 & Regulations, and previous experience in a regulatory function either within Local, State or Federal Government would be advantageous. This position is offered on a permanent, fulltime basis working 35 hours per week. Remuneration package for this position is based on Grade 12 of Councils Salary System Protocol which equates to a base salary of $95,597 $107,533 per annum plus a generous vehicle allowance of $18,168 and 12% superannuation.
