Job Description

Senior Guardian Aboriginal Targeted NSW Department of Communities and Justice is seeking a Senior Guardian to provide highquality guardianship services in a culturally safe workplace that respects and celebrates Aboriginal identity, values, and traditions. Positions are available in Sydney, Parramatta, Gosford, Newcastle and Wollongong. 35hour week, flexible hybrid working options, Clerk Grade Level 5/6. Base salary $99,938$110,271 per annum plus superannuation and annual leave loading. Responsibilities Make decisions in line with the Guardianship Act 1987 (NSW) and internal policy within the Senior Guardian delegation level. Maintain accurate, timely customer records and prepare guardianshiprelated reports for the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal. Conduct visits to people represented by the Public Guardian in accordance with Guardianship Standards. Work with key stakeholders (family, health professionals, service providers) to negotiate appropriate options and positive outcomes. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and timely exchange of information with represented people and their families. Qualifications Degree or equivalent in social work, health, behavioural sciences or related discipline. Experience in guardianship practice, advocacy or services for people with vulnerability. Good working understanding of service systems such as NDIS, aged care and mental health. Strong communications, relationshipbuilding and stakeholder engagement skills. Empathy, emotional intelligence and a passion for social outcomes, justice and advocacy. Willingness to travel across NSW and to undertake afterhours work where required.
