About our opportunity This register is open only to ongoing Australian Public Service employees at the APS5 classification and may be used to fill vacancies within the Immigration Group over the next 12 months. About our team The Immigration Group is responsible for administering Australia''s Permanent and Temporary Migration Programs, people smuggling policy and implementation, the Refugee and Humanitarian Program, and Settlement Programs. The Group delivers status resolution in detention and the community, manages the Department''s client facing services, and provides policy advice on national impacts of migration, citizenship, people mobility, and delivers citizenship, social cohesion and multicultural programs. Qualifications & Requirements You must be an APS5 Australian Public Service employee in an ongoing role and an Australian Citizen. You must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, be able to work under pressure whilst remaining calm in stressful situations, display integrity and high ethical standards, and have good judgement and attention to detail to make lawful decisions. You must be competent with Microsoft Office Suite and able to quickly learn departmental IT systems, legislation and policy. You must be eligible for Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance; ABF Workers also need Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC); Home Affairs Workers also need Onboarding Check (and possibly ESC as determined). Duties and responsibilities As an APS5, you will transfer from your current Department to the Department of Home Affairs, Immigration Group. You will typically work in one of the following roles: Visa and citizenship decision makers record keeping, managing mailboxes, responding to clients, assessing and deciding certain applications in line with established policies. Administrative support officers data entry, responding to enquiries by phone/email, drafting correspondence, managing email mailboxes, supporting daytoday operations. Program advice and support officers assist with reporting and communications, respond to enquiries via email/phone, provide routine advice to clients. Customer support / call centre / client liaison officers provide timely and accurate advice to stakeholders, act as first point of contact through facetoface, phone, email, correspondence, live chat or social media.
