The Opportunity We are seeking qualified and experienced Trackwork Specialists to join our Permanent Way team. This is a handson role where your skills will directly contribute to the maintenance, repair, and upgrade of DRR''s railway lines and associated infrastructure. You will be performing physical trackwork tasks crucial for ensuring the ongoing safety and operational continuity of our heritage railway. If you possess the necessary qualifications and experience in track maintenance and are committed to rail safety, this is a vital opportunity to make a direct and significant impact. Qualification and experience in trackwork are highly desired. Key Responsibilities & Duties Perform physical track maintenance tasks, including sleeper replacement, rail adjustments, ballast work, and minor repairs to points and crossings. Utilise track tools and equipment safely and effectively. Work under the direction of the Permanent Way Inspector or Rail Operations Manager. Collaborate with other members of the Permanent Way team and Mechanical Workshop. Adhere strictly to all DRR safety procedures, including those outlined in the Safety Management System (SMS) and Rulebook. Assist with vegetation management along the track corridor as required. Requirements National Police Certificate Heavy Lifting ability Driver''s Licence (C) Medical Check Working with Vulnerable People Check Additional Requirements Applicants require formal qualification and experience in trackwork/permanent way maintenance. Capable of heavy lifting and working outdoors in various conditions. A preplacement medical check is required for fitness for duty. All successful applicants undergo a National Police Certificate check and a Working with Vulnerable People Check (Registration to Work with Vulnerable People in Tasmania). All costs for these checks are covered by DRR. Strong commitment to rail safety and teamwork is essential. Training Mandatory induction. Onthejob orientation to DRR specific track infrastructure and SMS. Reimbursements Approved outofpocket expenses (e.g., preapproved travel/materials) reimbursed.
