Lead strategic planning and shape the future of our region! Join a high-performing team committed to excellence and innovation. Were seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Town Planner to provide expert planning advice and lead complex development assessments across Murray River Council. Youll support the Manager Development Services and guide our planning team to deliver high-quality outcomes for our community, developers and stakeholders. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on strategic thinking, mentoring others and navigating planning legislation with confidence. Key Responsibilities: Deliver high-level town planning advice to internal and external stakeholders. Lead and mentor Town Planners, Paraplanners and Cadet Town Planners. Facilitate prelodgement meetings and provide guidance on planning instruments. Assess complex Development Applications and manage strategic planning projects. Draft and manage Planning Proposals and compliance investigations. Liaise with government departments and attend industry seminars to stay current. Review and update planning procedures, templates and policies. Prepare reports, presentations and briefings for Council and planning panels. Provide strategic advice to the Manager and Director on planning matters. What we''re looking for: Tertiary qualification in Town or Urban Planning or related field. Minimum 3 years experience in NSW planning consultancy or local government. Strong understanding of planning legislation, policies and compliance. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and NSW Planning Portal. Willingness to learn new systems and contribute to continuous improvement.
