The Opportunity This is an exciting time of significant growth and opportunity at Melton City Council and the successful applicant will play a pivotal role in ensuring the management and maintenance of the City of Meltons unique urban forest. Reporting to the Parks and Open Space Coordinator, the successful applicant will play a key role as the conduit between Council and Councils tree asset maintenance service provider by delivering high-quality contract management and technical skills. They will also provide expert advice to Council relating to arboriculture. Key Responsibilities Effectively oversee the planning, development, and maintenance of the urban forest in accordance with Council strategies, policies and plans. Oversee works performed by contractors, volunteers, and other Council staff to ensure the asset base remains in good condition. Ensure that Council maintains accurate data on the tree inventory and work with relevant Council business units to ensure that this information is available in Councils GIS. Develop and continually improve asset management strategies, policies and other working procedures to manage Councils urban forest. About you To be successful in this role you will have the following: Tertiary qualification in arboriculture or an associated field with several years of relevant work experience in arboriculture or other allied field commensurate with the requirements of the role or less formal qualifications with extensive experience commensurate with the role. Demonstrated experience in managing trees and urban forests. Ability to form strong working relationships and demonstrated commitments to good customer service. Proficient understanding of principles and practices of contract management. A working knowledge of OHS requirements and a commitment to safe work practices. Hold a current Victorian drivers licence.
