We are seeking a Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor in Veterinary Pathology to join our team of worldclass clinical specialists at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Camden. The position located at Camden has a focus in Equine, Livestock, Wildlife and Exotics, that complements the small animal and preclinical teaching across both campuses. The discipline of Veterinary Pathology operates NATA accredited diagnostic laboratories at both campuses with a team of 6 diagnostic pathologists (two at Camden), 3 anatomical pathology residents and a highquality technical team across the diagnostic disciplines including haematology, serum biochemistry, cytology, microbiology, histopathology and molecular diagnostics. The University Veterinary Teaching Hospital is one of the core teaching and research facilities in the Sydney School of Veterinary Science, a globally ranked veterinary school. Supported access to high quality teaching platforms such as digital microscopy, as well as multiheaded microscopy and good quality student microscopes, makes experiential learning in microscopic disciplines easy to facilitate. The academic environment is different from commercial specialty practice with the academic mission of teaching and research being central to operations. The role will be based predominantly on the Camden campus within the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Camden (UVTHC) and research groups. Attendance at the Sydney campus will be required on an occasional to semiregular basis. The UVTHC provides a range of large and small animal veterinary services to the community and referring veterinarians. As a teaching facility it provides clinical instruction to final year veterinary students and offers a number of postgraduate residency training programs, as does the Camden pathology group. This is an opportunity to take a leading role in the faculty''s teaching and research initiatives in the area of farm animal anatomical pathology and provide high quality diagnostic support for farm and companion animal anatomical pathology. Your key responsibilities will be to: oversee and further develop the UVTHC pathology diagnostic and teaching services cocoordinate veterinary pathology teaching and training to final year DVM students engaged in small group UVTHC rotations, and participate in further expansion of a residency training program across the pathology services of both campuses liaise and support selected diagnostic work with internal and external veterinarians maintain reputation for academic excellence maintain a research profile which meets University expectation and standard and enhance the reputation of the School, including, success in competitive research grants and other research income generation, publications in peerreviewed international journals ensure outstanding teaching and learning outcome coordinate and develop curricula and program within the School coordinate and engage in highquality teaching and learning experience which meet the University''s expectations and standards for education. As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for a Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor who has: a PhD and Memberships or specialist qualification in anatomical pathology a Veterinary Science degree registered to practice in New South Wales a demonstrated established track record of publications in research in veterinary pathology relevant experience in diagnostic equine, livestock and companion animal pathology experience in undergraduate teaching in veterinary pathology a willingness to undertake the Graduate Certificate in Education Studies (Higher Education) or a comparable postgraduate course in teaching and learning a demonstrated interest in and enthusiasm for equine, production animal and/ or wildlife pathology research excellent communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team advanced organisational and time management skills a vaccination for Q fever is required for this position. The commencement level will be determined based on the candidate''s skills, experience and knowledge relative to University of Sydney normative criteria.
