Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure Perth, WA A$129,211-$179,499 p/a On-site Posted 1 day ago The Opportunity We are building a talent pool of solicitors to fill current and upcoming opportunities within the Legal and Legislative Services (LLS) team within DTMI. We are seeking Generalist lawyers, Property lawyers and Infrastructure/Construction Lawyers to be a part of DTMI and the meaningful work we do for the Western Australian Community. The LLS division of the DTMI has become well known as being an employer of choice. In the team, there is a strong focus on opportunities for people to be mentored on complex maters as well as opportunities to operate in areas of personal interest and strength. DTMI is responsible for the development and management of a range of facilities, infrastructure and land across metropolitan and regional areas of the State, including, marinas, boat harbours, jetties and other maritime facilities. DTMI has a sizeable lease portfolio involving the leasing of land and waters for commercial and community recreational purposes. Well known properties within the portfolio include the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour and Hillarys Boat Harbour. As a Solicitor (SCL3) within this area, it is expected that you can under some supervision: Provide legal advice on commercial leasing transactions with a focus on development/ground leases. Draft, negotiate and review a range of lease related agreements. Collaborate with other lawyers in the team, operational teams and external legal providers. Generalist Lawyer (SCL 3 or 4) As a generalist lawyer you would be expected to primarily facilitate the development and amendment of legislation, including drafting instructions, liaising with Parliamentary Counsel, and ensuring alignment with government policy and legal frameworks; as well as provide general legal advice including contract interpretation, statutory compliance, and risk management, with reference to relevant legislation. You will also be expected to draft routine Agreements. Infrastructure/Construction Lawyers (SCL3/5) As a lawyer with specialities in this area, you would be expected to have suitable experience in areas such as procurement and contracting, land access and acquisition, environmental and planning approvals and governance and statutory compliance. We currently have the following full-time permanent opportunities available for immediate filling: 1x General Solicitor (SCL 3) specialising in Property Law This recruitment process is intended to establish a pool of suitable candidates to fill the above immediate vacancies, as well as other similar fixed-term and permanent positions that are expected to arise within the DTMI over the next 18 months from the date of first appointment. There is a real expectation of ongoing opportunities becoming available including at SCL5 and SCL3 (Infrastructure/ Construction), and applicants placed in the pool will be actively considered for future vacancies across the different specialities as they arise.
