Overview LEARNING SUPPORT OFFICER Pakenham based | Part Time 3 days per week | January 2026 Start | School holidays off | Applications Close COB Friday 14th November 2025 ECG is an independent school that provides an alternative pathway towards secondary education for students seeking a different learning environment. We support students to achieve their goals and provide them with skills to enter the workforce or pursue further study. This role supports students across our two Pakenham Campuses, contributing to an inclusive learning environment where all students have access to the curriculum and resources in a customised approach. Responsibilities Establish professional relationships with students based on trust and respect using a strengths-based approach. Demonstrate a positive, collaborative partnership with teachers in supporting students. Communicate information regarding student progress and identified needs to teachers and/or wellbeing staff in a timely manner. Complete administrative tasks and documentation using the student management system (Compass), including IEPs, funding submissions, attendance, student progress, incidents, or other significant matters in a timely manner. Provide individual and/or group support as required, including flexibility to move between classes, groups, and wellbeing staff. Accompany students on excursions, school camps and other out-of-school activities when required. Work with teachers to implement effective classroom management strategies that encourage student responsibility in line with organisational policies. Perform other duties as requested in a timely, professional, empathetic, and accurate manner in accordance with Community College Gippsland Policies and Procedures. Contribute to student safety by adhering to Child Safe Policies, Procedures, and Codes of Conduct; CCG maintains a zero tolerance for child abuse. Key Selection Criteria Experience in a school environment supporting students to achieve their individual goals. Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team. Clear understanding of confidentiality and privacy principles. Knowledge of the Child Safe Standards and ability to adhere to and proactively support them. Understanding of regional social, cultural, economic, and educational factors affecting young people and families. Understanding of barriers to engagement in education for disadvantaged and marginalised students. Demonstrated understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children. Working knowledge of Child Safety Standards. Essential Qualifications Certificate III in Education Support or equivalent (or willingness to undertake study). Current Working with Children Check. Clear Police Check. Level 2 First Aid.
