Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, the pharmacy team provides a comprehensive patient-focused service for all Peter Mac patients, ensuring the safe and timely delivery of all treatments, including clinical trials. With a strong focus on innovation, quality, and collaboration, the team contributes directly to advancing cancer treatment through research and improving outcomes - keeping patient care at the centre of everything we do.About the roleAs a Grade 3 Pharmacy Technician, you will have the opportunity to acquire an intricate understanding of, and develop specialty practice in, ambulatory and ward-based cancer pharmacy services, as well as cleanroom operations and imprest stock control. Imprest stock control and maintenanceOperation of the pharmacy imprest system to wards and other departments including stock level audits, entry of requirements into PDEs, data transfer, assembly of stock, delivery of stock and placement into storage areas.Imprest shelves are maintained in accordance with agreed range and quantity of in-date stock.Stock control functions including stock level audits, expiry date checking, stock file maintenance, internal stock movements, recycling of stock.Stock control tasks are performed in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with department policies and procedures.Technical functions relating to dispensing including data entry and label preparation, assembly and labelling of stock2. Packing and compounding performed according to operating proceduresNon-sterile manufacturing and prepacking of stock including preparation of equipment and labels, and worksheets, simple compounding procedures, packing and labelling of product, quality control procedures sterile manufacturing and technical functions relating to dispensing sterile products including preparation of equipment and labels, setting up of clean environment, simple compounding procedures, packing and labelling of product, quality control procedures.Following completion of credentialed training, to prepare IV additive and cytotoxic products, safe and accurate preparation of sterile products (including cytotoxics) according to department policies and proceduresDispensing and manufacturing tasks are performed in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with department policies and procedures.3. Support the work of the team and departmentFollowing completion of the training and orientation, to work in all pharmacy operational areas to support leave or during other absences.Following completion of credentialed training, support the clinical pharmacy team in the medication management process.General duties including photocopying, filing, printing patient profiles and other reports, general tidying and cleaning of work area and general maintenance of equipment and materials.Key Accountabilities (Contd..)4. Adhere to Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Policies and ProceduresTakes all reasonable steps to ensure a safe environment.Understands emergency procedures and location of emergency equipment.Completes incident reports 100% of the time and responds appropriately to OH&S incidents.Attends Health & Safety training on emergency procedures annually and is capable of identifying emergency equipment in place.Direct care staff will attend the yearly update on theory of fire, code red and orange responses and use of extinguishers.Adheres to the principles of Infection Control in accordance with Peter Mac policies and procedures.5.
