Brief Description The Department Champion reports to the Long Life/Fresh Food Manager and, in the managers absence, to the Store Manager. This role is classified as Level 3, 4 or 5 in the GRA contingent upon team size. Responsibilities include overseeing store staff in the department, resolving issues with the Long Life/Fresh Food Manager or Store Manager, and ensuring optimal product availability, merchandising, safety, and staff performance. Objectives Maximise sales by providing optimum availability of good quality, wellmerchandised products in a clean, safe environment, served promptly and friendly. Help develop, lead and motivate a capable team of store staff of the highest quality and standard. Minimise costs by tightly controlling inventory losses, quality of contractor work, minimising staff turnover and maximising productivity. Maintain the highest standard of cleanliness and safety. Use initiative to control, manage and continually improve the quality of work in the areas of responsibility. Be a constructive team member in the store. Responsibilities Manage the store resources effectively and monitor staff execution of tasks. Assist with induction and training of new employees and further development and training of existing employees. Ensure all Routine Cards are followed by the Store Team. Communicate to the Store Manager all incidents, damages, operational problems, or suggestions. Hold master key and be available for emergency callouts if required. Ensure all stock is of good quality and within date by rotating according to the rotation schedule. Train and maintain merchandising standards across the entire store; each department to be presented fully, ticketed, and clean. Ensure that correct stocktake/stock adjustment processes are occurring in all departments, accurate receival of goods and the accurate updating of invoices to give an accurate inventory. Ensure information essential for Team Members to carry out their responsibilities is communicated to them. Ensure all controls, policies, and procedures (e.g., WH&S, Employee Handbook, Product Recall, Food Safety, Due Diligence, Handling of Payments, etc.) are followed. Perform any special tasks as specified by the Store Manager that are in the nature of the role.
