Population Health Division is responsible for addressing primary and secondary disease prevention within the local community through Health Promotion, HIV and Related Programs Multicultural Health. Our work is delivered through individual service delivery. Population health promotes programs and initiates capacity building to members of priority populations on priority issues. We are seeking a skilled Environmental Health Officer to apply evidence based practice in a consumer focused environment, stay abreast of emerging technical and policy developments, and contribute meaningfully to the health and wellbeing of the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District community. The successful candidate will manage and conduct environmental health surveillance, respond to hazards and diseases with environmental sources, and exercise powers of entry, investigation, and inspection under relevant legislation. The role involves developing strategic relationships with stakeholders across government, industry, and academia to support public health objectives, and overseeing the monitoring of services to ensure compliance with public health responsibilities. You will also conduct assessments of State Significant Developments, contribute to whole of government responses, and prepare high level advice and briefings for senior leadership and government representatives. What You Will Bring To The Role Relevant tertiary qualifications in Environmental Health (or equivalent), or relevant equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience Demonstrated experience in managing a range of environmental health issues Demonstrated knowledge of NSW Public Health related legislation and experience in its use to promote and protect Environmental/Public Health Effective management skills including highly developed negotiation skills consistent with working in a senior cross sector role Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills and ability to analyse, investigate, develop practical solutions and report on often complex and politically sensitive environmental health and public health issues Experience in developing and maintaining relationships with multiple government and other stakeholders Advanced computer skills utilising varied and appropriate software (e.g. data recording and processing, Microsoft suite, Geospatial surveillance), and a willingness to learn new programs.
