About the Role The Environmental Approvals Specialist reports to the SHEQ Director and plays a pivotal role in securing and maintaining our license to operate across eight sites in Western Australia and New South Wales. Responsibilities Plan and manage the environmental approvals for Tronox sites across Australia Assist the Land Management Team to prepare approvals for relinquishment Technical subject matter expert for environmental approvals, closures and regulatory matters Actively pursue continuous improvement opportunities of existing closure requirements Assist in delivering a sustainable footprint across various functions for greenfield projects Ensure the business meets its current and future cultural heritage requirements Work with Operations to assist with stakeholder engagement activities in the West Australian and NSW Operations Assist with mine closure activities About You To be successful in the role you will bring; Essential Criteria Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science or equivalent Demonstrated experience in successfully obtaining and managing environmental approvals in mining Sound knowledge of WA and/or NSW mining and environmental regulations. Minimum 10 years experience in environmental management & leadership - including at least 5 years within the mining industry. Ability and commitment to undertake regular travel to operational sites in WA and Mildura, NSW, on a regular basis throughout the year. Full working rights in Australia with no restrictions Preferable experience Proficiency in communicating effectively with key stakeholders, internal and external customers Skilled in environmental impact assessment (EIA), mine closure planning, and development of Environmental Management Plans (EMP / EMPr). Proven ability to ensure regulatory compliance and liaise effectively with government departments and key agencies including EPA, DWER, DMIRS, DAWE, and NSW EPA. Knowledgeable in heritage, native title, and cultural heritage approvals and processes. Demonstrated success in project management, stakeholder engagement, and community consultation. Skilled in environmental risk assessment, sustainability initiatives, governance, and continuous improvement. You are also A strong communicator and collaborator across departments.
