Job Description

Senior Development Planner Fulltime, monthly 19day work month with flexible options. The Shire of Capel is located in the South West, midway between Bunbury and Busselton, nestled between beach and forest, a fastgrowing coastal Shire that values Honesty, Empathy, Accountability, Respect and Teamwork. We are seeking a Senior Development Planner with at least 3 years experience in statutory and/or strategic planning to join our Development Services team. You will manage a range of complex development proposals, including Local Structure Plans, subdivisions and major development applications, in order to achieve great outcomes for our Shire, and share your expertise and enthusiasm to help develop our teams capabilities. Key responsibilities include: Developing innovative strategies and policies to support strategic projects such as the Shires Local Heritage Survey, Developer Contribution Plan, Integrated Growth Framework and Place Planning. Assessing complex development applications, including Joint Development Assessment Panel items. Reviewing subdivision and development applications, structure plans and town planning scheme amendments. Engaging multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders. Desirable skills and experience: Behaviour that positively demonstrates the Shires HEART of Honesty, Empathy, Accountability, Respect and Teamwork. Bachelor of Arts in Urban & Regional Planning, or relevant equivalent. Experience in statutory planning processes examining and processing subdivision & development applications, structure plans and scheme amendments. Strong research, evaluation and reportwriting skills. Computer skills in MS Office. Knowledge of town planning legislation and local government processes. C class drivers licence. Base annual salary of $85,489 to $95,481 per annum, depending on skills, experience, and qualifications. Annual leave loading of 17.5%. Up to 14% Shire superannuation contribution.
