OverviewLocation: Surf BeachAbout the roleThe Apprentice Waste Plant Operator/Labourer is a full-time, fixed-term position within the Waste Services Division, based at the Surf Beach Waste Management Facility. The successful applicant will also travel to Wollongong to attend block release training.This is an excellent opportunity to launch your career in Waste Services. You will receive on-the-job training, gain valuable skills and experience, and work towards a Certificate III in Civil Construction (Plant Operations).As part of the role, you will develop hands-on experience in plant operations while completing the Certificate. You''ll assist with landfill maintenance, operate machinery and tools, support recycling and resource recovery, and provide customer service at Councils waste facilities.The starting salary for this position is $1,391.57 per fortnight plus 12% superannuation and is dependent on the age of the employee on commencement.To view the full salary information, list of duties and prerequisites, please view the Position Description. About youYou have a minimum Year 10 certificate or equivalent and a genuine interest in landfill operations. Youre ready to take on the challenges of an apprenticeship that blends hands-on experience with formal training.You also bring:Willingness and ability to perform physical labouring tasks during landfill operational activities.Commitment to completing all components of the apprenticeship, including TAFE.Basic literacy, numeracy, and computer skills.A team-focused attitude with good interpersonal and customer service skills.Initiative and a willingness to learn and grow within a supportive team environment.
