FCO Expression of Interest Future CampaignsThe Queensland Fire Department (QFD) is seeking expressions of interest for Fire Communications Officer roles. These positions are offered on a Permanent Part-Time basis, with the exception of Central Region Rockhampton, where roles are offered as Permanent Full-Time.Classification: FCODivision: State OperationsRegion/Directorate: STATE FIRE COMWork Unit: STATE FIRE COMMUNICATIONSLocation: There are seven Fire Communications Centres across Queensland: FireCom Southport, FireCom Brisbane, FireCom Toowoomba, FireCom Kawana, FireCom Rockhampton, FireCom Townsville, and FireCom Cairns.The QFD provides fire prevention, preparedness, and response services to Queensland communities. The department encompasses Queensland Fire and Rescue (QFR), Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ), and works together to pre-empt, prevent, mitigate, and manage the consequences of fires and other emergencies.Purpose of the role: The Fire Communications centres (FireComs) are responsible for emergency call taking, dispatching on-scene communications, coordinating and managing QFD resources. Staff are trained in incident management systems, hazardous materials, and technical rescue operations.Key requirements:Currently holds a valid Blue Card (from Blue Card Services)Australian Citizenship, New Zealand Citizenship, or Australian Resident StatusHave or ability to obtain Certificate III in Public Safety (Emergency Communications Centre Operations)Ability to successfully complete training programs of the Communications Training and Professional Development Program (CTPDP) at the prescribed levelDesirable Requirements:Typing speed of 45 wpm with 95% accuracyHave or ability to obtain a Apply First Aid and CPR CertificatesYour key accountabilities:Accept incoming fire and other relevant emergency incident calls and enquiries and collect relevant informationAssess the risks associated with a situation and the availability and capability of resources to determine the appropriate response and/or resources to be despatchedDespatch and coordinate appropriate resources to calls for assistance and notify other organisations in accordance with the Communication Doctrine and DirectivesMaintain and update all incident information in the centres computer-aided despatch system, continually monitor progress, support and liaise with operational staff until completion of incidentComplete required post-incident administration including provision of information and reports to stations and other agencies and organisationsMonitor alarm signals and respond in accordance with Communications Doctrine and DirectivesProvide mentoring and guidance on the job to new staffContribute to improvement of operational and administrative systems and proceduresIdentify systems and technical faults and liaise with Specialist Operational Services Unit in relation to reporting, maintaining, and updating communications technologyUndertake general administrative and project duties as allocatedCapabilities: To determine your suitability for the role, you will be assessed on the following Leadership Competencies for Queensland behavioural profiles that link to the key accountabilities for this role.For more information, please contact [email protected] or visit our website to find out more about the Queensland Fire Department. #J-18808-Ljbffr
