The Opportunity This teaching-focused role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the Schools strategic expansion in digital art, animation, and interactive media. Youll inspire the next generation of creatives to explore visual storytelling, digital design, and immersive environments in the age of AI, immersive computing, and interactive systems. With a strong focus on creative innovation and technical excellence, youll guide students to develop the artistic vision, conceptual depth, and handson expertise required for success in todays fastevolving creative industries. Were seeking a dynamic educator and practitioner with a sophisticated blend of creative and technical expertise, capable of producing visually striking and conceptually rich digital environments. Your practice will reflect a deep understanding of animation workflows, postproduction, and realtime rendering or simulation technologies. In this role, youll contribute to the development of applied, industryrelevant curricula, collaborate across disciplines, and connect art and design with fields such as business, science communication, computing, sustainability, and humancentred innovation, ensuring students are equipped to thrive in the creative industries of the future. You will: Deliver highquality teaching design, deliver, and evaluate curricula; maintain discipline and pedagogical currency; support student success; and use innovative technologies and teaching methods. Engage in scholarship and research develop a clear research agenda, collaborate in research teams, publish outcomes, and contribute to grant applications and HDR supervision. Foster partnerships and engagement build and maintain regional, national, and international collaborations that enhance learning, research, and community impact. Contribute to the University community actively participate in internal initiatives and committees that support strategic priorities and academic excellence. Model inclusive, ethical, and professional conduct promote a positive, culturally capable, and safe work environment while adapting to evolving teaching and research needs. About you: You are an innovative and futurefocused academic with expertise in digital media, animation, creative technology, or contemporary art and design. A passionate and effective educator, you inspire students through engaging, inclusive, and digitally enhanced learning experiences, supported by strong student feedback, peer recognition, and proven outcomes. You bring industrylevel expertise in digital art and animation production, creating visually compelling and conceptually rich work that integrates realtime, immersive, and interactive technologies. Highly proficient in realtime engines, AIassisted tools, GPUaccelerated platforms, and emerging computational design workflows, you combine creativity with technical precision. Dedicated to continuous growth and excellence, you actively engage in academic development and foster a collaborative, collegial environment that values innovation and shared success. Your research and creative practice, reflected through publications, projects, and supervision of research students, demonstrate a genuine commitment to advancing the field and shaping the future of digital art and design. You will possess: Completion of a doctoral qualification in a relevant field such as digital media, animation, creative technology, or contemporary art and design. Demonstrated expertise with industrystandard practices, tools and pipelines in digital art and animation, including experience developing interactive, realtime, and immersive creative outputs. Demonstrated experience in digital art and professional animation production, with a proven track record of delivering industryrecognised outcomes, evidenced through professional credits and published works. Advanced digital fluency and computational expertise, including realtime engines, immersive computing, AIassisted tools, and emerging computational design workflows for highlevel creative and technical outputs. Expertise with GPUaccelerated platforms or workflows for highfidelity, realtime, or immersive design outputs, such as in virtual production, cinematic animation, or spatial simulation. Proven ability to design and deliver learnercentred, digitally enhanced, innovative, and inclusive curricula, across areas such as digital art and design, animation and immersive environments including VR and XR. Demonstrated expertise in applying digital technologies in teaching, research, or professional practice, including animation and immersive storytelling. A developing record of scholarly and creative outputs, with evidence of industry or community engagementsuch as peerreviewed publications, recognised creative works, or showcases at national and international conferences. Capacity to supervise or cosupervise HDR students working digital art, animation, interactive design, or related applied creative practices; and Strong personal qualities and collegial approaches that contribute to the development and maintenance of a positive academic environment, fostering high levels of engagement and achievement for both staff and students. DESIRABLE Advance HE fellowship or Postgraduate qualification in higher education. Proven ability to collaborate with artists and practitioners in professional contexts across digital art, animation, and design, working within industrystandard pipelines and contributing to the delivery of innovative, professional outcomes. Industry certifications or applied expertise in areas such as systems design, UX/UI, computational creativity, or immersive environments. Research or creative expertise in advanced or interdisciplinary topics such as spatial computing, VR/AR/XR, or environmental storytelling. Active engagement with professional bodies, creative communities, or industry sectors related to digital art and design, animation, and media arts.
