What we are looking for: Join a dynamic team committed to maintaining and enhancing vital public assets including roads, stormwater drainage, and coastal infrastructure. As an Asset Technical Officer, youll play a key role in ensuring Councils infrastructure assets are safe, functional, and futureready. Your work will directly inform maintenance and capital works programs, helping to prioritise investment where it matters most. What your day will look like: Conduct field inspections to assess asset condition and identify defects across roads, drainage, and coastal infrastructure. Analyse asset data to support project prioritisation, scoping, and cost estimation for maintenance and renewal programs. Maintain and enhance asset databases and defect logging systems to ensure data accuracy and integrity. Supervise contractors and technical staff involved in asset condition data collection. Provide technical advice and reporting to senior infrastructure leaders to support strategic decisionmaking. Collaborate across departments to ensure consistency in asset management practices and continuous improvement. Please click here to view a full position description. What youll need for success: Highly developed skills in analysing asset condition data, developing works programs and prioritisation of projects. Demonstrated civil engineering asset management experience including the undertaking of defect identification and condition assessment, remedial works cost estimation and the input and retrieval of asset data from within corporate asset management systems. Demonstrated experience in project selection, preparation of project scopes, cost estimates, technical reports and project documentation. Demonstrated computer literacy utilising the Microsoft suite of products including a high level of Excel literacy, and mapping applications. Excellent oral and written communication skills: Interpersonal: High level of listening and negotiation skills, and ability to convey clear instructions. Written: Correspondence, mandatory forms and project reporting. Whats nice to have: Local Government experience in civil engineering, civil asset management or equivalent.
