RACQs Traffic Response Unit (TRU) is a specialised operational team of first responders, providing rapid incident response, dynamic traffic management and motorist support across Queenslands road network. The TRU plays a critical role in maintaining safety, efficiency and resilience on minor and major transport corridors through close collaboration with emergency services and road authorities. Key Responsibilities Respond rapidly to roadrelated incidents and hazards such as roadway traffic crashes, disabled vehicles, hazardous debris and adverse weather impacts. Conduct dynamic scene assessments and implement appropriate traffic management strategies to ensure the safety of road users and emergency responders while reducing the risk of secondary incidents. Coordinate effectively with emergency services and road authorities to support integrated, multiagency responses. Provide practical assistance to motorists, including vehicle relocations and basic roadside troubleshooting. Conduct proactive network patrols to identify and mitigate emerging road hazards. Maintain clear, concise, and timely communication with Traffic Management Centres via radio and digital platforms. Uphold the highest standards of operational safety, professionalism, and public engagement. About You (Qualifications & Skills) Current and valid Open MR class drivers licence (or higher) with a clean fiveyear driving history. Valid White Card (Construction Induction). Ability to work on a rotating roster including weekends and public holidays. Exceptional situational awareness and sound decisionmaking under pressure. Strong communication and conflict resolution skills. Basic mechanical or vehicle troubleshooting ability. Confidence operating in highrisk roadside environments. Computer literate and able to use smartphones, tablets, and computer systems. Prior emergency services experience is advantageous but not essential.
