We believe in enjoying work, feeling rewarded for dedication, and having time for life outside of work.About the RoleYoull be joining the Back Office and Risk team as a Software Engineer Risk, building tools and systems that power critical control functions across risk, finance, and compliance. These systems must run accurately, reliably, and with minimal manual oversightthey sit at the core of our post-trade operations and will increasingly take on more automated decision-making and monitoring responsibilities. This role bridges the gap between software engineering and financial risk. Youll work closely with traders and the operations teams to ensure real-time insights, robust risk analytics, and clean, structured data for reporting and research. You may also play a role in providing curated datasets to trading teams for use in research or directly in production trading systems.Your Mission at Life TradingDevelopmentBuild and maintain tools and systems to support post-trade operations and risk management.Design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines for internal and external data.Aggregate, reconcile, and analyse trading data from multiple sources.Calculate and explain P&L and various risk metrics across a range of trading strategies.Maintain high test coverage and enforce software quality through automation.Analysis & AutomationCollaborate with operations teams on ad-hoc analysis and tasks.Identify opportunities to automate manual workflows and streamline recurring processes.Data & ReliabilityEnsure the integrity and high availability of critical data systems.Monitor and proactively resolve data quality issues.Lead the design and development of firm-wide risk dashboards and tooling.Work with risk and trading teams to define and evolve system requirements.Continuously improve support for risk limits, analytics, and reporting functions.SupportProvide ongoing support for production systems, including on-call when required.Improve monitoring and observability across the risk platform.Keep architectures up to date with best practices and scalability needs.OtherApply and uphold company values and policies.Ensure compliance with relevant exchange regulations.Perform additional duties as needed.Report to the Head of Back Office and Risk.What Were Looking ForDegree in Maths, Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.Advanced skill and proficiency with Microsoft ExcelSolid understanding of financial markets and trading concepts.Knowledge of market risk and how its quantified.A data-focused mindset and strong analytical skills.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Curiosity and passion for learning new tools and techniques.Bonus Points ForExperience working in a small, cross-functional team.Ability to work independently and drive projects end to end.Performance optimisation and profiling skills.Familiarity with distributed systems or real-time data pipelines.Experience with visualisation tools such as Grafana, Jupyter, or Excel.Understanding of time-series data and streaming technologies.A Bit About the TeamYoull join a tight-knit, high-impact team responsible for safeguarding and streamlining the firms post-trade environment.
