Proudly employee-owned, we provide imaginative and dependable engineering, environment, urban development and construction solutions to our clients in the public and private sectors.Our growing pipeline of large-scale, high-profile, and complex projects means we are looking for the best people in their fields to join us as we realise our vision to be Australias infrastructure consultant of choice.You will be joining a close-knit team that prides itself on professional, technical and collaborative excellence, while supporting Tonkins multidisciplinary approach that ensures our clients receive the best solutions.The OpportunityWe are seeking a Structural Engineer to join our Sydney team of around 40 professionals, based in our CBD office - just a 2-minute stroll from the Sydney Metro Gadigal Station and well-connected by multiple transport options. This role provides an opportunity to work with other Engineers including Senior and Principal Engineers who are leaders in their areas of expertise.Our ideal candidate would have 3 to 8 years local experience in consulting structural engineering, will have worked on a variety of building structural projects, and will have a thirst to learn and grow.We have a strong pipeline of structural design projects across residential, commercial, industrial, retail, education, health and infrastructure for a wide range of clients.About The RoleYou will work under a range of Senior and Principal engineers, and with a team of more junior engineers across a variety of projects and will be responsible for:Undertaking structural engineering design from concept to detailed, under supervisionWorking largely on the design of building structures, but with the opportunity to also work on maritime and civil structuresUndertaking site visits during the design and construction phasesCompleting condition assessment and reporting on building structuresCoordinating with the external design team on the projects you work onMaintaining client relationships on the projects you work onAbout YouTo be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:Approximately 3-8 years of local consulting experienceThe ability to work and coordinating with external design team members and clientsTime management skills and the agility to work across several projects at once to assist the whole teamExperience in the design of a range of building structuresExperience in undertaking condition assessments of building structuresAbility or willingness to assist in the preparation of fee proposalsA good knowledge of using Bluebeam, Spacegass and RAPTExposure to RAM Concept, RCB, and ETABSThis is the ideal position for someone who is committed and passionate about furthering their structural design knowledge and growing their career in a high performing team who are recognised for technical excellence, finding creative and progressive ways to deliver value for our clients, and putting a values based human touch into crafting solutions that have wide reaching impact.The Tonkin DifferenceWe offer all staff truly flexible work arrangements, access to a broad range of technical and non-technical development opportunities (including leadership development training and personal coaching for our internal leaders), a wellness allowance, monthly wellness challenges aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle, fresh fruit in our office and access to an EAP which provides an extensive range of resources including access to counselling, legal and financial advice.Good people.
