Head of English Canberra Full time, Permanent, Commencing January 2026 Are you an accomplished English educator looking to step into a significant leadership role in one of Canberras most supportive and forwardthinking school communities? We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head of English to lead our large, dynamic department and help shape an outstanding English programme across the school. About the Role You will oversee a thriving English Department of 22 dedicated staff including parttime team members. From 2026 you will be supported by two Assistant Heads of Department, allowing you to focus on strategic leadership, curriculum development, and staff mentoring. The position includes a 0.5 FTE teaching load, ensuring ongoing engagement in highquality classroom practice. This is a fulltime, permanent position commencing January 2026. Required Experience At least two to three years of experience as a Department Leader such as Head of English, Assistant Head of English, Coordinator or equivalent Six to seven years of experience as an English teacher with proven capability to lead, mentor, and innovate Strong knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and a genuine commitment to studentcentred learning are essential.
