Overview Research Fellow in Forest Resource Assessment University of Melbourne Base pay and role details Role type: Full-Time; Fixed term for 12 months Faculty: Faculty of Science Department/School: School of Agriculture, Food and Ecosystem Sciences Salary: Level A: $85,555 - $116,094 p.a. plus 17% super Base pay range: A$85,555.00/yr - A$120,000.00/yr Your responsibilities Lead forest resource assessments using remote sensing and participatory GIS mapping to develop investment frameworks for sustainable forestry. Collaborate with project investigators, contribute to high-impact publications, and present findings at conferences and seminars. Liaise with industry partners and government bodies to ensure practical relevance of research outcomes. Contribute to teaching and supervision of research students, primarily at the undergraduate level. You may be a great fit if You are a dedicated researcher with a PhD in forest ecology or a related field, possessing strong GIS and remote sensing skills, and the ability to design and implement field-based research programs while collaborating effectively in a multidisciplinary team. You may have a PhD (or be near completion) in forest ecology, environmental science, or a related discipline. You possess demonstrated experience in GIS, remote sensing, or participatory mapping. You have a track record of publishing research in relevant areas, commensurate with your experience. You demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English. You show the ability to work cooperatively in a multi-disciplinary research environment. You have experience in engaging with industry stakeholders and fostering collaborative partnerships.
