Purpose of Classification The purpose of this classification is to provide mentoring and team leader support to Head Start staff members while creating a warm and nurturing learning environment, observing staff performance, establishing plans for staff improvement, and cultivating teaching methods of staff members. Essential Functions Performs teacher mentoring duties: establishes a working relationship with teaching staff and site administrators to provide feedback by observing classroom activities, modeling/mentoring teaching activities, and conducting meetings and trainings; assists in the annual review of education plans, curriculum, and policies and procedures. Serves as an advisor to staff needing professional development assistance: assists Child Development Associate (CDA) candidates and renewals, maintains the Professional Development Credential, provides resources, strategies, and self-evaluation tools to support teacher development; assists in planning and providing in-service training and workshops. Assists in the completion of mandated child assessments: trains and assists staff with classroom management, screenings, assessments, and reviews childrens records, assessments, and activity plans; ensures childrens safety and wellbeing. Provides documentation of observations, meetings, trainings, reports, and inputs data into the agency system, utilizing spreadsheets, databases, and word processing tools. Engages in ongoing professional development, attends meetings, and advocates for the Head Start programs. Additional Functions Performs other related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education, General Education, Special Education, or related field, with two years of experience working with preschool children, or equivalent education, training, and experience. Additional Requirements Successful completion of pre-employment assessments including fingerprinting, drug testing, medical examinations, and background checks.
