The mechanical group values close collaboration, mentorship, and crossoffice exchange with our Canadian team. This role will contribute to owners engineering, dam and hydropower rehabilitation, pumped hydro, new facility design, pump stations, and civil works for water resource developments. Responsibilities Work with diverse teams across our offices of multidisciplinary engineers, designers and drafters from preliminary investigations and conceptual design through preliminary design, final design, and construction. Collaborate with our structural team in Australia and Canada. Mentor junior or intermediate staff as the Australia team grows. Write, compile and review technical reports and fee proposals to clients. Act as a technical resource within a multidisciplinary project team that fosters career development. Visit project sites, as required to gather information and contribute to engineering activities. Attributes & Qualifications Bachelor''s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent). RPEQ & CPEng registration or eligibility preferred. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team of professionals. Effective verbal and written English communication skills, with demonstrated report writing skills. Strong working knowledge of industry codes and standards. Analytical skills with one or more computational tools examples include AFT Fathom, Arrow, Impulse, AutoPIPE, SolidWorks. Working knowledge of AutoCAD, and Mathcad or equivalent would be an asset but proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel would be expected. Demonstrates initiative, enthusiasm and commitment to technical excellence. Valid drivers license. Ability to travel domestically and internationally. Working knowledge in one or several of the following areas: Gates, stoplogs and associated hoist design. Large valves design. Penstock design. Piping and pumping design. Cooling water, drainage, unwatering, brake and compressed air balance of plant systems design. HVAC design, including smoke control in underground spaces. Fire protection and detection systems. Overhead crane specifications. Turbine and governor equipment selection. We Value Your Extensive experience delivering mechanical engineering design from concept through to final design for hydropower, transportation, and/or mining/resources projects. Proven ability to lead and contribute to a variety of project scopes across these sectors. Demonstrated leadership, project management, decisionmaking and coaching skills, especially your ability to train and mentor young professionals. Passion for business development, strategic business planning, particularly in developing and growing a team. Strong initiative, innovation and commitment to technical excellence as well as your enthusiasm and drive toward longterm success. Ability and willingness to engage remotely with teams in offices around Australia and overseas and to work autonomously. Superior verbal and written communication skills including your experience in writing proposals, technical reports and general project correspondence.
