In the role of Principal Product Designer In this pivotal role, youll work at the intersection of design and engineering, defining patterns, design tooling, and visual excellence to empower designers and engineers to craft cohesive, intuitive experiences at scale. As a Principal Product Designer, your genuine passion and deep expertise in design systems will shine through. Youre a natural systems thinker and exceptional designer who thrives on mentoring others and enabling teams to deliver consistent, accessible and delightful customer journeys. Youll lead strategic design initiatives, set the benchmark for design excellence, and help shape the backbone of our digital experiences. Your responsibilities Lead the evolution and adoption of the Elevate design system, ensuring it enables secure, seamless, and inclusive experiences across all NAB digital products. Be the standout systemsthinking designer, demonstrating and advocating the value that a design system brings to our customers, colleagues and NAB. Partner with crossfunctional teams to embed Elevates principles and components into product development, driving consistency and quality at scale. Coach and mentor designers, fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and design excellence. Partner with Engineers. Theyre your best friend in delivering a scalable, sustainable design system. Champion inclusive design and accessibility, ensuring our solutions empower every customer and colleague. Conduct research, gather feedback, and iterate on components to meet evolving user and business needs. Advocate for design system best practices, contributing to NABs broader design community and uplifting design maturity across the organisation. Set and uphold high standards for design quality, usability, and accessibility. Qualifications Extensive experience as a product designer or UX/UI designer, with a strong portfolio of design system leadership. Demonstrated expertise in building, scaling, and governing design systems in complex environments. Deep understanding of design processes, methodologies, and principles, with a passion for inclusive and accessible design. Proven ability to partner with multiple disciplines (product, engineering, accessibility, brand) and influence at all levels. Experience working in Agile teams, using modern design and collaboration tools (e.g., Figma, Storybook, Adobe Creative Suite). Strong visual design and interaction skills, with a keen eye for detail and consistency. Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
