OverviewHume City Council is seeking multiple casual Aquatic Services Officers across its Leisure Centres. Positions are available at Broadmeadows Aquatic and Leisure Centre, Sunbury Aquatic and Leisure Centre, and Splash Aqua Park and Leisure Centre. The role focuses on delivering high levels of customer service while maintaining safety, professionalism and integrity in a lively leisure environment.What youll be doingEnsure the safety and welfare of all staff and visitors.Continuously assess the progression of class participants to ensure continuity through the Hume Swim School program.Communicate progress to families and provide clear instructions to customers.Assist with scheduling of newly introduced classes.Be the first point of contact for customer queries and help resolve concerns.Provide support to Swim Instructors and assist where needed.Listen to feedback and view it as an opportunity to improve.Offer options to meet customer needs and provide positive feedback to staff and visitors.Demonstrate pride and ownership in the presentation of the centre and its services.Encourage open communication and acknowledge achievements.Lead by positive example and support team members to balance work and personal life.Act as Area Warden in emergencies or evacuations.Work in accordance with the Centre Operation Plan, Program Area Operations Manuals, Work Instructions and Work Plan.Maintain high standards of class supervision and safety for the duration of each class.Continually upgrade knowledge to provide high standards of education.Assist Swim Instructors with setting up and packing away lesson equipment.Comply with administrative procedures.The skills and experience youll bring to the roleAbility to impart knowledge of water education skills to participants.Ability to perform and demonstrate water education skills effectively.Ability to assist in leading operational changes or full program relocations according to procedures.Ability to formulate and administer lesson plans for well-organised classes.Time management skills for service delivery.Knowledge of personnel policies and practices applicable to the work.Understanding of Occupational Health & Safety principles relevant to the workplace.Excellent oral communication skills for client relationships and instruction.Skills in providing assistance and direction to achieve customer satisfaction.Courtous, friendly and professional telephone skills.Ability to handle conflict in a persuasive, tactful and confident manner.Ability to mentor and support Austswim trainees.EssentialRequired Certifications & QualificationsAustswim CertificateProvide First Aid CertificateCPR CertificateWorking with Children Check (WWCC)Demonstrated experience as a swim instructorCurrently teaching in the Hume City Council Swim School ProgramCurrent Drivers LicenceDesirableInfant Aquatics CertificateAccess and Inclusion CertificateTeacher of AdultsCompetitive StrokesPool Lifeguard awardSecond LanguageWhy Hume City Council?A leader in local government, were committed to creating an inclusive and collaborative work environment guided by our values:Were better, every day: We value progress over perfection and encourage taking initiative and learning from experiences.Were in it together: Everyone matters.
