Job Description

Job Summary Senior Structural Engineer Rail Mounted Machines. This role will be involved in the analysis and design of rail mounted machines for the materials handling industry. Working on a number of projects, you will conduct field investigations, client interviews, and cost estimates for civil/structural aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, evaluation, and constructability reviews of civil/structural components and processes, ensuring the projects meet unique and complex requirements. Telework is parttime; you are required to attend the office or project site at least three days per week, with schedules determined with your supervisor and project leadership. Major Responsibilities Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of civil/structural engineering including the preparation of original designs, layouts, details, drawings and specifications for structures, buildings, roadways, railroads, etc. Design, develop, modify, and evaluate civil/structural components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department procedures. Design structures using advanced knowledge of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering. Apply specific knowledge of the design, supply, and installation processes for rail mounted stockyard machines, and the application of the standard AS4324 MOBILE EQUIPMENT FOR CONTINUOUS HANDLING OF BULK MATERIALS. Determine the appropriate use of structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete based on load or stress requirements. Generate and review complex structural engineering deliverables, including steel and concrete calculations, specifications, and material requisitions. Analyze problems with conflicting design requirements, sketch ideas and possible solutions. Assess the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques, and coordination requirements. Plan, coordinate, or prepare equipment, work, and material specifications; evaluate bids and make award recommendations. Prepare procurement and subcontract requisition documents and perform associated technical bid evaluations with award recommendations. Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor''s degree (or international equivalent) and 810 years of relevant experience. Required Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of DIN ISO and Australian Standards for the design and construction of rail mounted machines for the materials handling and mining industry. Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) analytical techniques preferred. Recognized as an advanced contributor with a specialized skill set. Highly skilled and proficient in the discipline, resolving a wide range of complex issues creatively and effectively.
