The farm is located approx 15 minutes from town and 20 minutes to our famous beaches. Qualifications & Experience Our ideal candidate will have experience in the agricultural farming sector, as an Assistant Farm Manager with a minimum of two years work experience and a minimum Australian Diploma /Advance Diploma in a relevant discipline. In the absence of qualification, 3 years full time relevant work experience is required. Skills and Personal Attributes Strong knowledge of poultry industry, nutrition and disease management Experience in the use of farm machinery Mechanical aptitude Experience in leading a team Self motivated with effective time management skills and a flexible attitude to working hours Caring attitude towards poultry livestock and willingness to do the tasks assigned and comply with all relevant legislation and required work standards Have a positive attitude Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills First Aid Certificate Record keeping and basic computer skills Note Due to Biosecurity requirements, employees must not have any birds, pigs or poultry at their place of residence and must be willing to adhere to our quarantine policy and procedures. Tasks & Responsibilities The Assistant Farm Manager is responsible for assisting the Farm Manager with the overall management of the farm site, ensuring best practice in OHS, animal welfare, production and farm maintenance. The role is hands on, working directly with livestock, with flexible hours including some evenings and alternating weekends. Assist in planning, organising and overseeing daily farm activities. Provide technical support to assist the Farm Manager in poultry and egg production. Support livestock care: feeding, health monitoring, housing conditions. Maintain external free range runs; satisfy the welfare of hens in free range environment. Perform autopsies and identify pathogenic microorganisms, parasites and insects and weeds harmful to livestock and devise methods of control. Monitor livestock health performance and report abnormalities. Maintenance of good health including: prevention of disease; early recognition of disease; early treatment of disease; administration of vaccines and medication. Maintain Quality Assurance program and accurate records of animal health and production data. Work on shed change overs and depopulation. Assist in supervising farm workers and allocating daily tasks. Provide hands on training and guidance to workers on farm procedures. Ensure proper use and maintenance of farm machinery, tools and equipment. Ensure workers follow safety procedures and use required PPE.
