About the office This is a valuable leadership position within the Student Life Office, forming part of the Student Engagement and Success team, sitting alongside Student Wellbeing and Success. The team form part of the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic & Registrar portfolio alongside Libraries, and Student Administration. The Student Engagement and Success team empowers students and works with Student Leadership to transition confidently into university life and fosters an inclusive, connected campus community through collaborative programs and events. About the role This position is responsible for managing daytoday operational activities and providing leadership support to ensure the successful delivery of Student Life programs, processes, and reporting requirements. The position reports to the National Manager Student Life. Key Responsibilities Provide operational leadership for the Student Life team; act for the Manager when required. Collaborate with teams across Sydney, Fremantle, and Broome to deliver national programmes. Lead, coach, and support staff to maintain a highperforming team. Oversee programmes such as mentoring, volunteering, matureage initiatives, and residential life. Plan and coordinate orientation and engagement activities across campuses and online. Ensure programmes are inclusive and meet student needs. Build strong relationships with student leaders, faculty, and support teams. Identify improvement opportunities and recommend enhancements. Report regularly on participation, outcomes, and feedback. Ensure compliance with safety, risk, and legislative requirements. Qualifications, skills & experience Completion of a postgraduate qualification with relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. Relevant experience coordinating and delivering studentfocused programmes and activities, tailoring programmes to meet the needs of diverse student cohorts. Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, supervise and provide direction to a team, ensuring appropriate oversight of performance and services to achieve outcomes. Highly proficient in operational and project management skills, with the ability to analyse complex issues, develop practical solutions, and manage projects from initiation to completion. Understanding of student retention and engagement with knowledge of contemporary issues in higher education. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including demonstrated ability to build successful relationships, influence and engage with a wide range of internal stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to support staff both individually and within the team environment. Strong time management and organisational skills with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
