Staff Specialist Clinician SMO1.1 - SMO1.6 Remuneration Package Range: $249,872 - $305,368 (including salary $213,380 - $261,100) Division: Division of Surgery and Critical Care Location: Darwin, Palmerston Vacancy: One fixed 6month position, full time or part time Job Summary We are recruiting an Ophthalmology Specialist Clinician starting January2026, reporting to DrNishantha Wijesinghe, a senior ophthalmology consultant. As a specialist clinician you will conduct regular outpatient clinics and theatre sessions, manage patients, provide outreach services to regional hospitals and remote communities, and work with a multidisciplinary team of ophthalmologists specializing in medical retina, uveitis, paediatrics, and oculoplastic. You will also participate in continuous medical education, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, peer review, research, quality improvement activities, and clinical audits. Responsibilities Conduct outpatient clinics and theatre sessions. Provide patient care and management advice. Participate in specialist outreach services to regional hospitals and remote communities. Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to coordinate and develop services. Implement innovative models of care. Engage in continuous medical education including teaching, peer review, research, quality improvement, and clinical audits. Qualifications Eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists. Demonstrated experience and expertise in providing ophthalmology services.
