Primary objective The role is responsible for the effective Contract Management of the general building repairs and maintenance period contracts at Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH). This position also supports the contract management of hydraulic services maintenance period contracts for RDH and general building and hydraulic services maintenance period contracts for Palmerston Regional Hospital (PRH) and will interchange with the PRH Engineering Services Mechanical Manager as required. Context statement The Department of Logistics and Infrastructure Hospital Engineering Services provide 24/7 multi-disciplinary support to Royal Darwin and Palmerston Regional Hospitals. The team ensures Repairs and Maintenance is completed in accordance with legislative, legal, and Australian Standards requirements, ensuring compliance with the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards and the hospital accreditation cycle. Key duties and responsibilities Manage all day-to-day functions and aspects of the RDH Building services maintenance period contracts. Participate in tender assessments for Hospital Engineering maintenance period contracts and minor works projects. Follow defined service quality standards, Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services, and workplaces. Ensure all building, maintenance and minor works carried out by period contractors comply with Australian Standards and all other relevant mandatory legislative and legal obligations. Participate in the on-call roster for the provision of afterhours support to Royal Darwin and Palmerston Regional. Selection criteria Essential Formal carpentry qualifications and/or an appropriate technical certificate, or a minimum of three years experience in a field of technical work related to the duties of the vacancy. Strong current technical knowledge and extensive experience in the National Construction Code, relevant to the area of specialisation, in a client focussed, cross-cultural environment. Ability to communicate and work effectively with a wide range of professional, technical, trades and administrative people, maintaining professional interaction at all times. Experience with Computer Managed Maintenance Systems and proficient in the use of email and general Microsoft office programs. Desirable Knowledge of a hospital environment in relation to an Engineering Services department. Certificate IV in Building or Project Management.
