Full-time fixed term until December 2026 (with the possibility of extension subject to funding) Exciting leadership opportunity to support the School of Rural Health Doctor of Medicine program located in Dubbo NSW Base salary of $% superannuation About the opportunity The School of Rural Health (SRH) has been delivering long term rural placements for The University of Sydney year 3 and 4 medical students in Orange and Dubbo for over 20 2022 The University of Sydney commenced delivery of its four-year graduate entry Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program in two streams : a Metropolitan stream based on the Universitys Camperdown campus in Sydney and a Dubbo stream based at the School of Rural Health in Dubbo. We have a position available for a Senior Lecturer (Education-Focused) Year One Medicine Coordinator who will undertake a range of duties related to the implementation of the curriculum as well as teaching and learning activities for Year One in the Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program (Dubbo Stream). This position will have a supervision and leadership role in the Program including coordination and management of academic staff and tutors within the portfolio. The Year One program comprises a foundational block that includes an introduction to infection and immunity and eight system-based blocks : Musculoskeletal Respiratory Cardiovascular Endocrinology and Nutrition Sexual Health Nephrology and Urology Gastroenterology and Neurosciences. Preclinical fields to be taught Anatomy Embryology and Histology (preferred) Pharmacology (preferred) Biochemistry Human genetics Immunology and Microbiology Pathology Physiology The metropolitan and Dubbo streams share teaching materials including a comprehensive set of online lecture modules. The delivery of the Anatomy curriculum in Sydney retains the use of human cadaver prosections whereas in Dubbo only high-fidelity models and sophistical visual technology are used. This position is located at Dubbo. Limited travel between rural and metropolitan sites is a requirement of this position and therefore a drivers license is required. Some out-of-hours work is also required of this role. About you relevant qualifications outlined in the position description including a Bachelor or Higher Degree in a biomedical sciences field or a Bachelor of Medicine / Doctor of Medicine (MD) / Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from a recognised tertiary institution minimum of 4 years post primary medical / biomedical sciences qualification or masters level qualification in a related field or PhD in a related field demonstrated excellence in research or scholarly activities relevant to educational design and practice deep and broad experience in teaching and learning as evidenced by leading team teaching within an established medical program and experience in teaching in a variety of settings demonstrated success in supporting the academic endeavor from curriculum design to engaging in research / scholarship and providing a student enabling environment significant experience in supervising others and coordinating team activities demonstrated applied understanding of contemporary pedagogical practices in the discipline demonstrated capacity to lead educational activities to successful outcomes demonstrable understanding of and commitment to rural health National Police Check current drivers license.
