General/Business Unit Manager (CEO & General Management) Location: Auckland CBD, Auckland, New Zealand About CarExpert CarExpert''s purpose is to make buying the right new car quicker and easier, supported by our vision to be APACs leading new car marketplace, enabling confident ownership decisions. As the largest automotive content publisher in Australia (both written and video) millions of consumers rely on our independent, industryleading voice to inform their new car purchases each month through our valuable tools, reports, news, car reviews, comparisons, videos and more. With deep new car expertise and knowledge, CarExpert Australia is expanding together with our Joint Venture Partner, Trade Me to launch CarExpert.co.nz in New Zealand. Our ambition is to quickly establish ourselves as the leading new car destination in New Zealand and to make buying the right new car, quicker and easier for New Zealanders. Job Summary The Country Manager is responsible for overseeing all company operations for the New Zealand business. Success in this role depends on ensuring that CarExpert.co.nzs goals align with the companys broader strategic objectives. This position requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and crossfunctional coordination to drive audience growth & performance, profitability, and market success. As a startup, this is an allhandsondeck role where you will be deeply involved in daytoday operations from planning and execution to problemsolving and delivery. CarExpert.co.nz Country Manager will be working closely with CarExpert AU, Trade Me and Stuff.com to elevate our position in market and grow relationships with OEMs. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute sales and business initiatives to meet and exceed revenue and profit targets. Develop CarExpert.co.nz audience, growth and performance strategy and achieve relevant KPIs. Ensure successful management of client portfolios, identifying new business opportunities and nurturing existing client relationships. Oversee the negotiation and closing of highvalue advertising deals, sponsorships, and partnerships. Deliver regular and accurate forecasts to CarExpert NZ board. Implement and manage inventory and pricing guidelines to balance sellthrough, yield, and revenue. Work with key CarExpert AU stakeholders such as Technology, Product, Marketing and Ad Ops teams to develop marketleading advertising products for the NZ market. Monitor market trends and competitor behaviour to adapt strategies for market growth. Prepare and present financial reports, forecasts and board papers to the CarExpert NZ board. Establish and maintain strong relationships with key clients, agencies, and partners to drive customer satisfaction and repeat business. Harness emerging AI capabilities to innovate, problemsolve, and elevate overall business outcomes. Work closely with the Director of People & Operations, CarExpert.com.au to build and develop a highperforming team that embodies our values and culture. This includes recruitment. Foster collaboration across CarExpert NZ and CarExpert AU to ensure efficiencies and shared success. Attend and participate in executive meetings, and off sites when required. Mentor team members, ensuring they have clear KPIs. Nurture a positive working environment, always keeping our values at the core of everything we do. Education, Experience & Skills Strong knowledge of the automotive industry in New Zealand and market dynamics. Proficiency in financial management and strategic planning. Successful sales experience including strong negotiation and communication skills, including presentations. Extensive leadership skills, particularly in an advertising sales environment. Operates effectively in a fastpaced environment or startup experience. Why should you join our team?
