Primary objective Support the delivery of Fisheries initiatives and extension programs that build Aboriginal capacity and participation in fisheries education, management, research, and compliance activities to foster positive engagement between NT Fisheries, Aboriginal stakeholder groups and fishing sector stakeholders for multi-user outcomes. Context statement The Fisheries division of the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries undertakes Aboriginal engagement through capacity building, training activities and partnerships initiatives in aquatic resource management, aquaculture, aquatic biosecurity and building employment opportunities on Sea Country. The Sea Country Partnership Officer delivers training and extension programs that support two-way knowledge transfer and coordinates Aboriginal Ranger fee for service work. Key duties and responsibilities Provide support to Aboriginal stakeholders by undertaking stakeholder engagement, training and capacity building activities including research, monitoring, reporting and compliance to meet Fisheries priorities and caring for Sea Country objectives. Administer fee for service contracts and activities to engage Aboriginal Rangers in aquatic resource and Sea Country management activities. Assist in the delivery of the division''s Stakeholder Engagement and Communication Strategy. Assist with the preparation of written reports and stakeholder correspondence. Leverage whole of government and external stakeholder communication and engagement to build Sea Country Partnership capacity and secure external funds to deliver projects and key performance objectives. Selection criteria Essential Proven experience in developing and delivering engagement and communication plans to people of diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds including Aboriginal people and industry stakeholders. Demonstrated experience successfully negotiating stakeholder conflict resolution and fostering collaboration among stakeholder groups for multi-user outcomes. Demonstrated experience in service or project delivery, including fee-for-service contracts, that deliver on strategic objectives. Proven skills in the effective use of information technology, records management and business systems that support effective delivery of communication and engagement plans. Demonstrated high level of written and oral communication, organisational and time management skills to achieve objectives. Experience in communicating regulatory information and applicable requirements to stakeholders. Desirable Four-wheel drive and coxswain certificate or ability to obtain one in a reasonable time. Ability to work weekends and/or irregular hours.
