Job Description

The Opportunity The purpose of this role is to conduct high level research in paediatric lung health with the broad aim to improve the outcomes of children, young people and their families with, or at risk of, chronic lung conditions. We are a multidisciplinary team with areas of focus including clinical respiratory physiology, cohort studies and clinical trials, mechanisms of paediatric lung conditions and translation of our research to the community and into clinical practice. Team website: The Postdoctoral Researcher will report to the CoHeads of the Foundations of Lung Disease teams and will play a key role in advancing clinical research to improve childhood lung health. The successful candidate will contribute to the design and implementation of clinical studies, preparation of competitive funding applications, supervision of students, and publication of highquality peerreviewed research. This is a fulltime position; however, flexible working arrangements may be considered for the right candidate. Responsibilities Design and support paediatric lung health studies, including grant and ethics applications Manage participant recruitment, data collection processes and ensure data integrity Analyse and interpret data, contribute to new research questions and engage in peer review Disseminate research findings through publications, conferences and support translation to practice and policy Build collaborations with consumers, researchers, clinicians and policy stakeholders Contribute to team operations through meetings, supervision, mentoring and skillsharing Conveniently based at Perth Childrens Hospital, this is a fulltime role for 2years, with the possibility of extension. About You The successful applicant will have a postgraduate qualification in an area relevant to respiratory physiology / science /medicine, along with: High level of written and oral communication skills Demonstrated ability to set goals, develop priorities, and meet deadlines Experience in scientific paper preparation and submission, including grants and ethics applications Experience working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team Working with Children check prior to commencement is mandatory Demonstrated experience in respiratory physiology understanding and assessment would be an advantage At The Kids Research Institute Australia, we are committed to building a workplace culture that reflects the communities we serve.
