Senior Software Engineer - Data OrchestrationFeedzai, Sydney, New South Wales, AustraliaOverviewSenior Software Engineer - Data Orchestration at Feedzai. The role focuses on developing the Feedzai Orchestration product, dealing with large volume data, diverse data sources, data orchestration and transformation, and integration of internal and external data providers into a cohesive platform used by Data Engineers, Business Analysts and Data Scientists.ResponsibilitiesIterate within an Agile squad to turn product ideas into shippable increments across the full stackfrom Scala micro-services to other languages.Write idiomatic, reusable Scala with unit, property-based and integration tests; uphold quality through rigorous code reviews.Deliver end-to-end solutions when required, including building APIs and touching frontend components.Operate across the full SDLCdesign, implement, test, deploy, observe, maintain and refine software services.Collaborate with Product & Design to translate UX wire-frames into accessible, performant interfaces and iterate based on customer feedback.Promote engineering excellence by documenting decisions, sharing knowledge in guild sessions and mentoring peers across front- and back-end domains.Key Technical FocusBack-end emphasis with distributed systems, data orchestration, and integration of data sources for real-time or near-real-time processing.Experience with JVM-based back-ends and Scala (CatsEffect, ZIO, Akka, or similar).Familiarity with modern data & messaging platforms (Kafka, Spark/Flink, Cassandra/DynamoDB, RabbitMQ or Pulsar) and working at scale.Nice-to-have Cloud experience (AWS, Kubernetes/EKS, observability stacks, IaC) and automated multi-environment deployments.Nice-to-have experience with a modern data stack (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Airflow, dbt, Dagster, etc.) and front-end exposure (React/TypeScript).You Have & You KnowhowBSc/MSc in Computer Science (or equivalent) with strong algorithms, data structures and distributed systems fundamentals.4+ years building production JVM back-ends with Scala as a primary language.Proven ability to develop high-performance, concurrent services and APIs (REST, gRPC, GraphQL, eventdriven).Hands-on with data & messaging platforms and comfortable working with them at scale.A growth mindset: curiosity, autonomy and the drive to learn, experiment and teach.Nice-to-have Cloud expertiseAWS services, container orchestration (K8s/EKS), observability stacks, IaC.Nice-to-have experience with a modern data stack and front-end exposure.Company and CultureThe Engineering (Tech) Team is responsible for all Feedzai product development.
