About the role Australian Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sport and the Arts Darwin NT Applications are invited to fill a nonexecutive Director vacancy on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) Board. This is a parttime position, with a term of up to five years. Responsibilities As a nonexecutive Director, you will provide strategic guidance, oversee governance, and ensure the ABC fulfils its Charter and serves Australias diverse society. Qualifications Substantial experience or knowledge in at least one of the following fields: the media industry broadcasting and digital media digital technologies in any sector other than the media sector business or financial management educational content creation corporate governance, including managing large and/or complex operations in the private, public or notforprofit sectors cultural industry and/or cultural policy, including its administration. Highlevel leadership and vision, and the ability to articulate a clear direction for an organisation. Highlevel judgement. Highest standards of professional and personal integrity. An understanding of, or the ability to credibly represent, the communication needs of Australias diverse society. An understanding of the media environment, in particular the ABC, the Charter and its place within the Australian community. A demonstrated commitment to high standards of governance, gained from extensive experience serving on boards. Selection criteria The selection criteria for this position is set out in the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (Nonexecutive DirectorSelection Criteria) Determination 2024. Due regard will be paid to the Boards gender, diversity and geographic balance, in the interests of ensuring that the ABC Board reflects the diversity of the Australian community and ABCs audience.
