We Core Cultural Statements Innovate for impact Love what we build Back ourselves to win Be the customer outcome Stay open and connected The role you will play As a Senior Software Engineer at Render, you are a backend focused engineer who is passionate about all aspects of excellent developer experiences including architecting and developing simple yet powerful APIs, authoring clear and informative documentation, building compelling integration applications, and interacting with internal and external customers to incorporate feedback. You will be an expert in Python code bases and demonstrate both high code velocity and quality simultaneously. The backend team consists of some of the most dynamic and tenured software engineers at Render and is motivated to deliver high quality code for internal and external integrations that support our productled strategy. Key responsibilities Work as a leader within the Backend team to develop a scalable, reliable, and highperformance APIs Be a proactive member of system scoping discussions, technical specifications and code reviews Establish and implement best practices for backend infrastructure focusing on scalability and reliability Create robust test cases for new platform and API capabilities Roll out changes and migrations to customers in an agile manner with backward compatibility Work with and mentor fellow engineers through code reviews and technical sessions Troubleshoot production issues across various service levels Collaborate with engineers, technical leaders, product managers, and designers to scope out and deliver on new features and roadmap items Onsite mentorship and crossteam collaboration sessions Ideal candidate must have A BS degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or relevant engineering field 6+ years of professional backend software development, including developing publicfacing API products Deep understanding of modern Python and the ecosystem Solid understanding of the full stack of technologies needed to build and run APIs (Renders API is built using Fast API) Expertise in Restful API design and management, ensuring scalability and high performance Exposure to micro services and designing webhooks or similar event based technologies Proficient in SQL, advanced database design, with a strong understanding of optimisation and performance best practices Experience working within AWS Production experience with observability tooling, Datadog, New Relic or similar Solid understanding of CI/CD methodologies and experience in building pipelines Experience with agile software development methodologies Motivated to develop high quality code, ability to engage with all necessary stakeholders to ensure that happens Experience with gathering and documenting technical requirements and specifications Excellent communication, collaboration, and delegation skills Experience working with frontend frameworks such as React, Vue or Angular is a plus Whats on offer At Render, were reimagining connection and enabling both our customers, and the communities they exist to serve, to reach their full potential.
