Lead and Run a High-Performance Conveyancing Business Type: Full-time | Senior Operations Leadership Role Salary: Starting at $160,000 Colwell Conveyancing Group is a respected, progressive, and fast-growing conveyancing practice known for delivering exceptional client outcomes. We are seeking an experienced Legal General Manager with a strong conveyancing background to lead the team, drive daily operations, and oversee the full performance of the business. You will report directly to the Board and be responsible for executing the strategic plan while maintaining excellence in day-to-day delivery. This role is designed for someone who wants to be handson in the engine room leading people, processes, compliance, workflow, culture, and customer outcomes with precision and accountability. You will blend leadership with operational detail, ensuring the business runs smoothly while continuing to grow. About the Role This is a pivotal, handson operational leadership role. Key Responsibilities The Legal GM will: Oversee and manage all daily conveyancing operations Supervise team performance, workflow, accuracy, and file progression Ensure strict compliance with conveyancing regulations and business processes Troubleshoot issues in real time to maintain momentum and service levels Drive continuous improvement, efficiency, and operational discipline Work closely with Directors to execute strategy through strong operational delivery This position combines leadership, operational control, process management, compliance oversight, staff development, and daytoday decisionmaking. You will be the person ensuring the business functions at a high level every day not from a distance, but by being actively involved in the detail. Operations & Workflow Management Lead and manage a highperforming conveyancing and legal team, including lawyers and Directors Provide guidance, supervision and professional development for a growing team Implement and maintain consistent processes and compliance Manage daily team workflow, file allocation, turnaround times, and workload balance Lead continuous operational improvement across systems Lead and manage a highperforming legal and conveyancing team Provide handson support, coaching, and escalation management Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, and staff capability development Conduct performance reviews, set expectations, and hold the team to account Build a strong culture of accuracy, responsiveness, and operational excellence Compliance, Risk & Quality Control Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and professional standards. Conduct file audits and ensure consistent documentation and risk management Identify and correct operational, compliance, and servicelevel risks Maintain a high standard of client communication and documentation quality Business Operations & Reporting Manage budgets, operational costs, and resourcing levels Report on operational performance, file metrics, staff KPIs, and efficiency improvements Work with Directors on strategic priorities and convert them into actionable daily execution About You You are a detail-driven, customer focused, and proactive operator who thrives in a fastpaced team environment. Youre confident leading, solving problems quickly, and taking ownership to ensure consistency and performance. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) with a current Australian practising certificate At least 5 years postadmission experience Experience in conveyancing operations, legal practice management, property law, or similar professional services operations Leadership experience managing teams in a highvolume environment Highly disciplined with workflow, process, compliance, and documentation Excellent communication, decisionmaking, and problemsolving skills Must have current Australian work authorisation at the time of application Why Join Us?
