Where the team fits in The Head of Engineering will join the Financial Services Product & Technology Team within our Financial Services business (which includes Mortgage Choice and finance on realestate.com.au). Our goal is to be the #1 destination to find and finance property. The Product & Technology team achieves this through building products that deliver exceptional homelending experiences that our brokers and consumers love, and through creating business value powered by robust, innovative technology. The Head of Engineering will work with the Applications Processing Tribe, leading the engineering squads focused on powering growth in settlements through an exceptional broker productivity and efficiency via a streamlined, intuitive, fast application lodgement experience. What the role is all about The Head of Engineering is responsible for delivering significant business impact by leading multiple engineering squads to achieve strategic product goals in our Financial Services business. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Head of Engineering will manage engineering teams responsible for the tech which supports lead generation, lead management, CRM & Franchise Operations for our network of brokers. Typical responsibilities include: Oversee and execute technical solution design to deliver on the product roadmap, aligned to the tech strategy Provide guidance for complex engineering outcomes, supporting Engineering Managers to make technical decisions Ensure engineering excellence through decision making and leading the adoption of best practices Drive impact through direct people leadership of Engineering Managers, and indirect leadership of software engineers located across Australia, India and China Hire and grow the next generation of engineering leadership, coaching and managing performance Support a culture of high performance and grow engagement across teams Partner closely with Product and Design teams to shape and plan strategic product roadmaps Build a highperforming system of work, grounded in metrics that matter and continuous improvement Lead delivery across your team, setting clear accountability for outcomes and communicating progress Drive transformative technology initiatives and manage dependencies with adjacent teams Who were looking for Proven experience as a senior engineering leader, ideally within a financial services or lending organisation A track record of leading teams to deliver complex programmes of work that have significant business impact Experience fostering collaboration across multiple teams and building relationships across business units/functions Deep expertise in product strategy, with experience influencing product success via technical solution design and delivery Experience operating in fastpaced innovative environments A strategic thinker with experience aligning engineering efforts to enterprise or commercial goals Fullstack engineering background; proven native application development experience (swift/android), react, typescript, kotlin, AWS & MFE. SOE experience a plus.
